Not your mother's swimsuit.

Last year I wrote an entry about chic swimsuits for the new moms out there. Surprisingly it's the post with the most hits. So, I present to you, my 2010 chic swimsuit list. It's not your momma's swimsuit, it's also not that slutty girl's suit either.

Striped Retro Playsuit. By Ouma. $168.
Okay, so this isn't cheap...and I'm not even sure it's really a swimsuit, but it sure as hell is chic. Love it.

Lido Tank Top. J. Crew. $55
I love this style of swim top. I really do. I own it in black. Granted, this model is way to thin to pull this top off right. This looks amazing on real moms with real curves. J. Crew really does have this really awesome swimsuit material that just sucks you right on!

Blue with Pink bows retro Maillot swimsuit. By TheRedDolly. $60.
This super sweet maillot style suit would look great on lady with a curvy figure!

Solid Ruched Tank. By J.Crew. $78.
This one-piece has a really great neckline and comes in beautiful pastel colors.

La Blanca by Rod Beattie 'Hola Ombre' Bandini. $87.
This is a perfectly acceptable way to rock the tie-dye. The matching hipster bottoms are great too.

'Patty Cakes' Tankini Top. By Betsy Johnson. $ 162.
This is definitely a bit of a splurge, but it's so darn cute! Matching bottoms are here.

Xhilaration black and white stripe swimwear. By Target. $14.99-$17.99
I don't care if horizontal stripes are "unflattering" I love the black and white stripe look. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for this one at my local Target!

Fresh air is cheap and & chic.

Some mothers have this theory that when it's cool and grey outside you HAVE to be stuck inside with your children. God forbid some fresh-air may do you and your child some good. Winter is long. But we are not bears and we do not need to hibernate! Don't be that mom that's stuck at home all winter long, depressed because it's cold. Not only will your childless friends think you're boring, but it's simply not good for you.

And seriously. Your kid has enough warm clothes already. I don't know a single mother who doesn't have 7481203210 million outfits for their kid. Let alone a jacket.

See this silly thing on my husbands back? Ya know, the one that makes Reece's bum look like he's massive sumo wedgie?

We love this thing. It's the awesome Kelty baby backpack. Now, my son is not a baby anymore, he's a toddler, and darn-it- I think we can still use thing for another year! That's much longer than most of the crap baby products out there! This one retails new for $150, but I have seen them at secondhand baby stores, Craigslist and Ebay for around $50. It's even better if you can borrow one from a friend in exchange for a decent bottle of wine!

Reece and I are obviously dressed in our winter's finest here. You gotta love the marshmallow man uni-suit. It reminds me of the marshmallow man from Ghost Busters...but ya know, blue. Reece's snuggie suit is a gift from Grandma from REI. This is another baby item we love. It has built in mittens and booties that flip back. Sweet, right?

So, my point is, I guess, is to go outside, take some pictures and get some fresh-air today. It will be good.

Brilliant BOYS 90 minute shirt tutorial!

I LOVE the Internets and the people who blog! There so many great ideas out there and not enough time to read them.

I came across this great tutorial from Dana-made-it.com, "the 90 minute shirt". Reclaim your old shirts and create super cute tops for your little ones! Kudos to her for finding time to put together a great tutorial (with pictures!) for boys (and not another little girl skirt tutorial).

I'd be at my machine trying to figure this one out, but it died.

Cheap Chic Wall Decor

We have already embraced the 80s with the stretch pants and tapered jeans. Why not channel the 70s and create some cheap chic fabric wall art.

Check out this fabric art tutorial from Sew Mamma Sew. By the way, this project requires NO sewing skills. Great for even the ditsiest mom! (You know who you are.)

This is mine.

This project cost me a whole $28 and took me an entire 15 minutes.

Sweet.
